Andrew Worthington

Andrew advises both trustees and employers on a broad range of pensions issues, including the interpretation of pensions legislation and scheme rules. In particular, this has involved advising on day-to-day queries, preparing member communications and reviewing investment management agreements.

His recent experience has involved work to change a scheme’s principal and statutory employer and various projects to close schemes to new members and the future accrual of benefits. Andrew also enjoys legal drafting and has completed a number of consolidations of trust deeds and rules and the drafting of new benefit sections for schemes that have undergone benefit change exercises.

Andrew acts for a number of defined-contribution schemes and this has given him experience in fund mapping exercises, the preparation of governance statements, drafting payment schedules and advising on wind-ups following scheme mergers. Andrew is a member of the firm’s governance group and has provided advice to a number of clients to help improve their scheme governance.
