Lionel Tan

Lionel has a keen interest in the field of Information Technology law and litigation. He has been involved in cases dealing with internet defamation, internet fraud, online security breaches, trade secrets and misappropriation of confidential information. He also advises clients on compliance with data protection law and was a member of the National Council of Social Services’ Workgroup for the Personal Data Protection Act. Lionel also advises and speaks regularly on the legal issues involving social media, trademark and copyright infringement, brand protection, licensing and franchising issues. Lionel started out his career in law as a Deputy Public Prosecutor and Assistant Director of the Computer Information & Systems Department of the Attorney General’s Chambers. Since joining private practice he has advised and represented clients on a wide spectrum of high profile commercial and criminal matters. He is presently the President of the Licensing Executives Society (Singapore).
