Deanah Shelly is a partner in the Toronto, Ontario office of Mathews, Dinsdale and Clark, and member of the firm’s Canadian Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and Workers’ Compensation Practice Group. Deanah has focussed and special expertise in provincial and federal OHS regulatory matters affecting all sectors across the country. Deanah advises and represents organizations and their management immediately following serious workplace incidents, during regulatory inspections leading to orders/directions that require strategic compliance and/or filling an appeal and suspension application. Deanah also advises employers during work refusals, reprisals, and other OHS issues. Deanah has defended and represented Canadian employers at trial, in appeals, at hearings, and at Coroner’s Inquests. In September 2022, Deanah became the Chair of the Occupational Health and Safety Committee of the Canadian Association of Counsel to Employers (CACE) and is a frequent speaker, writer and instructor, on all topics related to workplace health and safety.
